Here you will find some of the Projects that we are most proud of. We explain what makes the project so special... Whether it is a beautiful local material being used, or a complete transformation to a sustainable landscape design, a new eco-friendly approach to installation, or even a project where we made a friendship with the client or helped to create a new connection with the land.

In August of 2025 we completed another phase of this transformative backyard landscaping project in Newmarket, New Hampshire. It all started a couple years back with Ajna Stonescapes installing a granite step and landing in the front of the house. The granite steps gave a new flow to the front yard and the home entrance, and so we were asked to build a flagstone pathway from the driveway to the new front entrance.
After the front yard had new pathways and steps, it was time to take on the backyard design and rethink some of the overgrowth. Ajna Stonescapes created the hardscape design while also collaborating with Stage Road Gardens and Sundance Home and Garden to develope a multi-phased plan for the landscape. We look forward to continue work on this project in 2026 as we create walking paths, native plantings and edible gardens throughout the property.

This Project was special for many reasons, and there is blog post with much more detail. Just click the link on the Project title above. Here in upstate New York, in beautiful Washington County, the client decided to use locally-sourced irregular roofer's slate from Evergreen Slate Co., LLC in Granville. We blended that with some irregular slate the client had on-site. We also brought in re-used Morin brick from a previous project in New Hampshire, for an eye-popping border. It was exciting for Ajna Stonescapes, and for our client, to be able to build such a remarkable patio with materials that originated less than 45 minutes away from the Project site!

In July of 2024 we completed a terrific project in Wells, Maine that was very fulfilling for several reasons. The client scheduled their Site Consultation all online using our website booking platform, and then decided on the SELECT Paver Package by Ajna. This was our company's first sale originating from the Booking page, and it was our first Paver Package sale! When we met the client for the first time we were thrilled to learn that our focus on Sustainability stood out to them and was a primary reason to contact us.
One way that our SELECT Paver Package adds values for the client is by offering a "Landscape Enhancement Add-On" where the client may make a selection from a list of "a la carte" landscape items and pay only the materials price while the labor to install is completely free. They decided on a "Plant Allowance" and we worked together to create a wonderful plant list. Less than 24-hours after installing the plants, butterflies were coming over to check things out!
Whether it was learning about and sourcing "Certified CCA Free" mulches, or discussing native plants, or explaining our permeable open-base construction technique, we worked together with the client to create a beautiful front landscape to welcome guests into their home. After all the stress of their recent move to a new house, it was so nice to hear them say that the new walkway made it feel like home.

New England Field Stone
In November of 2024 we completed a hardscapes project in Newmarket, New Hampshire that entailed a New England Field Stone Retaining Wall, two Large Format Flagstone Pathways, an ornamental River Rounds Stone Bed, and cutting a new Garden Bed. The client was thrilled with how everything turned out! But I gotta tell you something... I really do love working with New England Field Stone!
The controlled chaos, the structured madness, the routine dissaray - it is both fun and frustrating. Your mantra must be "patience", repeated over and over. Then patience, patience, and more patience. Whether large or small, field stone walls are challenging and immensely rewarding! Break out the chisels and hammers, sort out the pile of stone, clear your mind and get the tunes going, really lean into that ethereal vibe of the artisan working their craft.
The client asked about this or that rock, enjoying the unique character of their wall as they surveyed the work performed, and I had a little story for each and every stone. That is the beauty of it.
Bring on those New England Field Stone Walls, I can't get enough!

We recently wrapped up this awesome project in Newmarket, New Hampshire. The client heard about us from their town Facebook page and liked that we focus on Sustainability. The mission was to deconstruct the original boulder retaining wall that was failing and to build a two-tier boulder retaining wall with granite steps, all while utilizing as much of the existing material as possible. We loved the idea of building something from stone that was already on site because reusing is sustainable!
Yes, we know that Newmarket is located in New Hampshire and not Maine, but when people looked at the pictures and said, "Wow, that looks very Maine-esque!", we had to headline that. It is thrilling to build a natural landscape that matches the look and feel of a region, terrain, or culture.
